Mario has degrees from the universities of London, Edinburgh, and Oxford. His early career was as a research scientist at Oxford, where he worked in the field of space technology, developing scientific instruments for NASA space missions. In 1997 he founded Oxford Science Studies Ltd, providing educational courses and services to UK students seeking admission to top British universities. In 2002 he co-founded Oxford International College Ltd (OIC). In 2005 he co-founded Oxford International Education Ltd, dedicated to providing educational services overseas and developing quality pathways for international students into the higher education sector in the UK. In 2008 OIC opened its first international centre in Shanghai, and a second one in Qingdao.

Further OIC A-Level centres will be opening up throughout China in the next few years.
