HISTORY AND HERITAGE

Oxford International College (OIC) was established in 2002 by academics who wanted to pioneer a university model of tuition. This commitment to academic excellence, brought to life by specialist teachers, remains the same today. We now combine this focus with personal development and career preparation through our Supercurricular department. Together, these three pillars prepare our 15 to 19-year-olds for success at university and beyond.

In 2019, we proudly topped the UK Independent Schools A-level results league table. Ever since, our hard-working students have collectively achieved over 90% A* or A grades in their exams.

This success takes our students to the world’s top universities. In the last two years, one in three OIC applicants were accepted to study medicine at Cambridge. What’s more, over the past four years, more than half of our graduates have gone on to study at one of the UK’s G5 universities.

The college joined the Nord Anglia Education family of premium international independent schools in 2021. This gives our staff and students access to a wealth of resources, opportunities, and connections across the globe.

Our teachers

Yasmin Sarwar

Chief Education Officer

Yasmin has been Chief Education Officer at Oxford International College (OIC) since 2017. Under her academic leadership, we’ve topped results league tables, becoming one of the leading A-level colleges in the UK. Committed to ensuring our students achieve their university ambitions, Yasmin works closely with higher education providers worldwide, including Oxford and Cambridge.

Kim Terrar

Principal

Kim has more than 20 years’ experience of leading and managing teams. In her time at OIC, Kim has been instrumental in the college’s growth, overseeing our transformation into a thriving day and boarding community of almost 400 students. Kim’s breadth of expertise – which spans inspections, health and safety, safeguarding, and the curriculum – drives our pioneering approach and fuels our commitment to excellence.

Toby Blundell

Deputy Principal for Teaching and Learning

An Oxbridge graduate, Toby has more than two decades of teaching and leadership experience. Toby is a big believer in the transformational impact of international education and is passionate about helping our students develop a global perspective. He also emphasises the importance of good humour, empathy, and clear communication, which all have a profound impact on the student experience.

Mona Chaudhury

Assistant Deputy Principal (Strategic) and Curriculum Development

Mona is a highly qualified teacher and curriculum expert, who has worked in prestigious schools across England and Wales. An experienced A-level examiner, Mona understands what it takes to achieve success. This ensures our students receive the expert support and exam prep they need to earn outstanding results. Mona has a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s in Education.

Marianne Thompson-Hill

Deputy Principal for Pastoral Care

Marianne is a vastly experienced Deputy Principal who is committed to nurturing every aspect of our students’ wellbeing. Marianne is also a qualified life coach, who specialises in neurodiversity, self-esteem, and anxiety. In her time at OIC, Marianne has helped to establish our HR and special educational needs (SEN) departments. She also has an in-depth knowledge of the Ofsted and Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) processes.

Nathan Phillips

Head of GCSE

Nathan has more than 20 years’ experience in education, gained in both the state and independent school sectors. Passionate about curriculum development, Nathan has a proven track record of curating engaging lessons and experiences – combined with the innovative use of data analysis – to ensure our students make outstanding progress.

Simon Guest

Director of Estates and Facilities

Simon joined OIC in 2019. With a rich and varied estate management background – both in the private and local government sectors – Simon ensures our students have access to the very best teaching, learning, and boarding environments.
