OIC students participate in Challenges of Government Conference

During October Enrichment week OIC students participate in Challenges of Government Conference at Blavatnik School of Government

Last week twenty OIC students attended Blavatnik School of Government to participate in the Challenges of Government Conference 2019, organised by Oxford University.

The topic covered this year was ‘The New Generations’ which examined how young people are changing the world. The conference discussed the most important issues faced for millennials and Generation Z; Economics and wealth, Environment and climate change, Identity and multiculturalism, Trust and integrity, Insider and outsider methods, Technology and public interest.

The speakers in attendance were young politicians such as Syed Saddiq, Malaysian Minister of Youth and Sports and one of the youngest ministers in Asia; Chuka Umunna, Member of Parliament in the UK; Jefferson Koijee, Mayor of Monrovia, the capital of Liberia; Batool Asadi, Assistant Commissioner in Quetta, Pakistan; and Jiayang Fan, staff writer at The New Yorker, among many others.

OIC students had the opportunity to listen to their unique and inspirational experiences and meet and ask questions to these young changemakers.
