OIC takes on Space Design Competition in Oxford, Cambridge, and on the Internet

This term, OIC have hosted the Oxford regionals in UK Space Design Competition and attended the Cambridge and Derby heat. Our team has also created a video entry for a related Space Design Video Competition.

The UK Space Design Competition is a science and engineering competition designed as a simulation of life in industry. Students between Years 10 to 13 work in groups to solve complex technological problems, experiencing the vast potential and valuable opportunities of STEM careers.

Our team at the Cambridge heat won the regionals and will now be going to the finals in March at the Imperial College London. Congratulations to everyone involved, and best of luck in spring!

Meanwhile, another team has put together an entry for the UKSDC video contest – a side project related to the spirit of the competition. It is a 3-minute video detailing a design to fulfil a Request for Proposal set by the fictional Foundation Society.

We would like to congratulate all students involved in the video contest. With their sheer determination and perseverance, they have regrouped in college and done it on their own initiative in their own time. Their video entry can be viewed here.

Video competition results will be released on 20 January 2020.

This is not the only fascinating thing OIC students do every term! Take a look here to read more about our achievements.
